This blog covers all things RF. It is dedicated to my dearest friend and avid FedFan @EfieZac. May she RIP 💙

Roger+Federer+Western+Southern+Open+Day+8+vKT-TeSceebxNo time, must write, bullet points will have to suffice, so here we go!

  • Roger Federer is in the Cincy finals!
  • ROGER FEDERER IS IN THE CINCY FINALS! (yes it needed to be yelled twice)
  • This is his 2nd final in back to back weeks.
  • This is his 4th consecutive final this year – the last time he reached 4 finals in a row was in 2008.
  • He is the only player who reached the SFs of both tournaments, Cincy and Rogers Cup.
  • This is Roger’s 8th final out of 12 tournaments this year.
  • This is his 121st career final.
  • This is also his 38th Masters final.
  • This is his 6th Cincy final.
  • Roger has now won 48 matches this year.
  • The SF was his 1,195th career match and 971st career match win.
  • By defeating Raonic his record vs. the Top 10 this year is 11 wins to 4 losses which is currently the best on tour.
  • Just to add some perspective, in 2013 he had only 1 win vs. the Top 10 in the entire year.
  • Here are links to two post match on-court interviews, by ESPN and Tennis TV.
  • Here is the hot shot from the match.
  • Here is a clip of the match point.
  • Here are the highlights, watch him at 1 minute and 20 seconds, total BOSS mode 😛
  • Here is a link to the press transcript.
  • I must say this was the best match he played this tournament, low on errors, good serving and improved volleying.
  • He was on court for 67 minutes which is good considering how little time he has for a turnaround. His opponent will have gotten at least 5 hours more rest than him since that SF was played earlier in the day.
  • He also has the disadvantage of having played 3 night matches in a row so it will require him some time and adjustment to get used to the day conditions at Cincy which are faster for sure. His opponent on the other hand has played in day time conditions and is more used to them.
  • His opponent for the finals is David Ferrer. His H2H is a positive 15-0 but he was pushed to 3 sets by Ferrer just last week in Toronto. Plus David has certain advantages I just laid out in my previous two bullets. As such, despite the H2H I expect this to be a very tough match.
  • Only 4 hours to go so C’MON ROGER!
